On avenue de la Chapelle, in sector 54 of the picturesque Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris, is the tombstone of Adolf Cichowski (1794-1854), a Polish politician and officer, participant in the Napoleonic Wars and the November Uprising, awarded the Order of the Legion of Honour, designed by one of the most interesting Polish sculptors and medallists of the 19th century. - Władysław Oleszczyński (1807-1866).

Cichowski came to prominence as one of the first members of the National Patriotic Society and publisher of the "Kurier Polski", and later as director of the female school at the Lambert Hotel. He was a significant collector of polonica, a member of the freemasonry lodge and an active member of the Literary Society in Paris.

Cichowski's rectangular stone gravestone in the cemetery was decorated with a bronze, convex medallion 35 cm in diameter with an image of the deceased's bust in profile in antique type. The neo-classical medallion is signed and dated: 'Ladislas Oleszczynski Paris 1848'.
