Biography:

Bolesław Starzyński (1834-1917), born in Śledzie, son of Edward Starzyński, marshal of the Olgopol district, and Izabela Mostowska, amateur artist, bibliophile and collector. He lived in Paris at 21 rue Nitot.

His first wife was Hélène Madelaine de Veyrauch, with whom he had three children: a daughter Rosa Maria (Marianne), born in 1861, married on 3 May 1883 to Stefan Szembek, and sons Witold (1864-1906) and Stanisław Aleksander (1872-1912). His second wife was Marguerite Hortense Dubois (died 1930), and they married on 27 April 1905 at Besançon.

He died on 26 January 1917 in Paris. He was buried on 31 January 1917 in the Père-Lachaise Cemetery, next to his father, first wife and sons. The tomb, in the form of a chapel, probably contains his own works: a cross and a bas-relief with a mythological scene.
