Graves of Poles from World War II

In the municipal cemetery in Dortmund (North Rhine-Westphalia), 6,000 foreigners were buried during the Second World War. Among them were 5095 citizens of the USSR, 282 Poles, 106 Yugoslavs and people of many other nationalities. In 1946, Polish dippers erected a memorial to the Poles who died and were killed in and around Dortmund, most of whom rest in this cemetery.
In 2020-2021, the "Polish-German Reconciliation Foundation", as part of a task supported by the "Sites of National Remembrance Abroad" Programme of the Minister, compiled data on the buried persons and made it available, together with a description of the cemetery, on the website of the "Polish Memorials and War Graves in Germany" project: https://polskiegroby.pl/cmentarz.php?jez=pl&cmentarzok=723&miejsceok=810&landok=10.
