Graves of soldiers of the 1st Armoured Division in the war quarters

In the municipal cemetery in Aurich, in the separate war quarters of those who died in both world wars, three soldiers of the 1st Armoured Division who died between 1946 and 1947 are laid to rest: Pvt. Bronisław Chojnacki, st. strz. Nikodem Gojdź, st. strz. Anastazy Lewandowski. The cemetery section has a uniform form, the graves form seven rows and are marked with stone crosses made of red sandstone, with carved inscriptions containing names, surnames, dates of birth and death. At the top of the quarters is a plaque with the inscription 'Sei getreu bis in den Tod, so will ich dir die Krone des Lebens Geben' (Be faithful until death, and then I will give you the crown of life).

Also dying in Aurich was the fourth soldier of the 1st Armoured Division, Pfc. Mowsze Milikowski (1911-14.12.1946), but it is not certain whether he was buried in the city cemetery or in the Jewish cemetery. Despite searches, his grave could not be found.
