Biography:

Witold Marian Gombrowicz, coat-of-arms Kościesza (1904-1969), born in Małoszyce, died in Vence, son of Jan Onufry coat-of-arms Kościesza and Antonina Marcelina, née Ścibor-Kotkowska, coat-of-arms Ostoja, Polish novelist, novella writer and playwright. Author of, among others, Ferdydurke (1937), Trans-Atlantyk (1953), Pornografia (1960) and Kosmos (1965), Dziennik (Diary) (1953-1969). He emigrated to Argentina in 1939 and stayed in France from 1964 until his death.
