The quarters of Polish Army soldiers killed in the Polish-Bolshevik war

By the road from Podbrodzia to Kiemieliškės there is a war cemetery where Polish soldiers killed in the Polish-Bolshevik war and German soldiers were buried. According to documents preserved in the Lithuanian Central State Archive (LCVA), the Polish section included 29 graves, in which 30 soldiers were buried (one grave was double). No trace of the graves in either the Polish or German sections has survived to the present day, only three crosses stand in the middle of the cemetery.
In 2021-2022, the Foundation Aid to Poles in the East, as part of a task subsidised by the programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage "Sites of National Remembrance Abroad", realised a commemoration in honour of Polish soldiers on the Polish part of the cemetery. It consists of a cross and a plaque lying at its foot. Both elements are made of light-coloured granite. The slab bears the inscription: "Polish soldiers of the 1st Legion Infantry Division / fallen in the fight for the independence of the Fatherland in 1919-1921" [below the same text in Lithuanian, under the text a list of names - 21 known and 9 unknown].
