Cemetery of Polish Army soldiers killed in the Polish-Bolshevik war

Polish soldiers killed in August 1920 in battles in the area of Tadanie, Żelechów, Horpin and Kamionka Strumiłowa were buried in the war cemetery. Two battalions of the 105th IR and the 40th IR took part in these battles. Despite some local successes, the battle was interrupted by an order from higher command. The 105th pp suffered significant losses. During the fighting it partially recaptured the volunteers of the Lvov Regiment under the command of Lt. Col. Dr. Aleksandr Domashevich who had been taken prisoner by Budionny. The burial of the fallen was carried out the day after the battle. Due to a lack of IDs (those carrying out the burial found the bodies of the soldiers stripped naked and chopped up), it is only generally known that the fallen came from the vicinity of Siedlce, Radom and Lodz. Only a few names of the fallen have been established. Initially, the cemetery had a wooden cross and a plaque with the inscription: "Honour to the Polish heroes of 1920". At an undetermined time (during the Second World War or in the post-war period), the cemetery was desecrated and razed to the ground. In 2011, the cemetery area was cleaned up at the request and with funding from the OPWiM Council. A fence was made and a granite cross with the inscription: "Here rest soldiers of the Polish Army fallen on 19 August 1920 in the fight against the Bolsheviks / Council for the Protection of Remembrance of Struggle and Martyrdom / 2011". [below the same text in Ukrainian]. At the foot of the cross is a plaque listing the known names of the soldiers: "Lt. Czesław Kostkowski / pchor. Eugeniusz Karasiński / cadet Adam Wyżykowski / private Jan Budy / and 93 unknown soldiers / Honour Their Memory".
