Feriköy Catholic Cemetery, also known as Pangaltı Roman Catholic Cemetery, is the largest Catholic cemetery in Istanbul, located in the Şişli district, about 3 km north of Taksim Square. This cemetery was established in 1853 when the Ottoman government decided that the Frankish cemetery in Pera was no longer suitable as a burial ground. Accordingly, a new area near the Pangaltı Military Academy was allocated for the Protestant and Catholic communities. In 1857, an additional area was allocated as the original space proved insufficient

The cemetery is divided into six squares and avenues named after saints, stretching from east to west. In the western part of the cemetery are the ornate mausoleums of great Levantine families such as the Corpi, Botter, Tubini and Glavany. Many memorials commemorate French and Italian soldiers who died during the Crimean War of 1853-1856.

The cemetery is a burial ground for various Catholic communities, including Levantines, Greek Catholics, Catholic Armenians, Syrians, Chaldeans and Melkites. Among those buried are people of different nationalities, including some 90 Polish gravestones, reflecting Istanbul's multicultural and multi-faith history. The monuments and tombstones in the Feriköy Cemetery bear witness to the diverse past and complex identity of the city's inhabitants.
