Biography:

Jerzy Kukuczka (1948-1989), Polish mountaineer. Described by mountaineers from all over the world and specialist media as "the best Himalayan climber of all time. Considered a Polish national hero, he was the second person in the world to climb all 14 eight-thousand-metre peaks. He did it without the help of Sherpas, mostly on new routes or in winter. He used oxygen only once. He died while climbing the south face of Mount Lhotse - he fell off the wall at an altitude of 8200 metres and fell to its foot, dying on the spot.
