During World War I, a war cemetery was established in Vileyka. Initially, it was used to bury Russian soldiers killed between 1914 and 1918. After 1918, the necropolis was taken over by Poles, who buried Polish soldiers killed in the Polish-Bolshevik war here. A few years later, the cemetery was divided between Catholics and Orthodox. After the division, a military quarters was separated in the Catholic part for those killed in the 1920 battles, which was tidied up and neatly enclosed, and a central monument was erected with the inscription: "To the fallen in defence of the borders of the Republic of Poland in the war of 1919-1920". The graves, of which there are 234, are arranged in 5 rows. At present, all the graves are nameless, despite the fact that documents preserved in the Lithuanian Central State Archive (LCVA) listed 34 names of soldiers buried in Vileyka. The quarters are in need of comprehensive renovation.
