Tombstone of Aleksander Olendzki

Burial place marked by a cross on a two-stage plinth and base. Cross with moulded mouldings, on moulded plinth. First step of plinth with chamfered upper edges. On the front an engraved inscription (1). The second step of the pedestal covered with a profiled panel. To the front a panel with a relief masquerade, below a relief inscription (2).

Inscription:

1. S. P. / ALEKSANDER / OLENDZKI / UR. 1809 + 1884 R. / Pokój Twej, / zacnej duszy. //.
2. Błogosławieni cierpiące / albowiem oni Boga oglądać będą //.

Additional information:

Time of origin hypothesised based on form and dates of life. The origin of the tombstone from J. Baranowski's workshop determined on the basis of similarity to signed tombstones cf. B. Gutowski, The Baranowski Workshop in Vilnius (in print). In the file of Wacław Wejtka, under the letter O, card number 47, dated 1936. According to the file, the location of the gravestone is sector "A2, 1st row, from the entrance to the boundary A1, N2". In the description of the gravestone the annotation: iron lattice fence".
