Tombstone of Mikalojus Čiurlionis

The burial place is marked by a gravestone, at the head of which there is a plinth in the form of a rock on a base. On the plinth to the front left is a bust of a man made in bronze. The man is facing 3/4 to the left. Dressed in a shirt with a stand-up collar, with a tie tied at the neck and wearing a jacket. Long hair, slightly pulled back, moustache. Below the bust is an engraved inscription (1). To the right of the pedestal, a panel enclosed by a full arch, within which is an engraved inscription (2). The base preceded by a rectangular flowerbed. The tombstone has plinths at the corners, connected by cast iron bars. The quadrangle (including gravestone No. 061), accessed by a twelve-step staircase, is clad in flagstones.

Comments on the state of preservation and visible restoration:

The monument was destroyed during World War II, restored in 1965 with a new bas-relief by aut. Edward Budreika (1918-2007), 1995 restoration work by J. Zikaro - author and architect Živilė Mačionienė.
