In the 18th century, by order of King Augustus II the Strong, a Polish-Saxon post office was established. In order to improve communication, to mark the route and to measure distances, mileposts were erected along the route. In this way, many postposts were erected to connect Warsaw with Dresden. The first posts were erected in 1722.
