The cemetery in Piktokańce, situated on a high hill above the village, contains the graves of Home Army soldiers who died in July 1944 and took part in Operation 'Ostra Brama'. Until recently, two unknown soldiers were laid to rest here, as well as Jan Iwaszko and Stanislaw Grejkin. On 22.09.2021, Apoloniusz Duszkiewicz, whose remains were found in nearby Migunas by experts of the Institute of National Remembrance and exhumed in 2019, was also buried in this cemetery.
After this last burial, the Lithuanian authorities redesigned the grave of the AK soldiers known by name. A large boulder now stands here, topped with a cross made of bright metal; two metal plaques with inscriptions have been placed on the boulder: ">The nation that does not respect its past / does not deserve the respect of the present and / has no right to the future< / J. Pilsudski / STANISŁAW GREKIN / JAN IWASZKO / Soldiers of the AK / died in July 1944, fighting for Vilnius." // "Ś.P. / Lt. Apoloniusz Duszkiewicz / pseud.: "Polza" / born on 17 November 1910 in Vilnius / Fallen in battle during the night of 3 to / 4 March 1944 in Kiejdzia. / Honour his memory" [text in Lithuanian below].
Graves of unknown soldiers are located near this commemoration - they are simple concrete crosses with an embossed inscription "Soldier unknown 6 VII 1944".
