Quarters of Polish soldiers killed between 1919 and 1921

After the end of the Polish-Bolshevik war, a war quarters was arranged in the cemetery, where the fallen Polish soldiers were buried. In 1932, as a part of the war cemeteries compassification, exhumations were carried out from Święciany to Nowe Święciany, but eventually all burials in Święciany were not liquidated, on the contrary, the cemetery section was expanded by burying here soldiers transferred from Maciun and Cerkliszki. After World War II, the cemetery was unattended and deteriorated. Due to the lack of a fence, civilian burials were placed between the war graves. Today, the graves are located on both sides of the cemetery alley - near the main commemoration there are 30 graves, arranged in two rows, and on the opposite side of the alley - 20 graves in three rows.

Between 2002 and 2003, the graves were renovated, the work being financed by the Council for the Protection of Struggle and Martyrdom Remembrance. At that time the main monument was erected with the inscriptions: "Honour to the Fallen Soldiers 1919 -1921" //"GARBE ŽUVUSIEMS KARIAMS 1919-1921" [on a vertical plaque built in at the foot of the cross] and "Here rest / Soldiers of the Polish Army / who in the years 1919-1921 / FOUGHT AND DIED / IN THE VICINITY OF ŚWIĘCIANY / TO THEIR MEMORY / THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND". //"ČIA ILSISI / LENKIJOS KARIUOMENES KARIAI / 1919-1921 METAIS / KOVOJA IR ŽUVĘ / ŠVENČIONIU APYLINKESE / GARBE JU ATMINIMUI / LENKIJOS RESPUBLIKOS VYRIAUSYBE" [on a plaque placed horizontally in front of the cross].

In 2011, the plot was profaned - the crosses on 50 graves were smeared with black paint, the memorial plaques were covered with grey paint and a swastika was painted on them. The damage was quickly removed.

The renovation of the cemetery section was carried out in 2022 by the Foundation in Aid to Poles in the East as part of a task co-financed by the programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage 'Places of National Remembrance Abroad'.
