Biography:

Zygmunt Berezowski a.k.a. Oleśnicki (1891-1979), born in Potiejówka in the Kiev region, died in London, son of Wiktor and Maria née Wróblewska, Polish lawyer, journalist, politician, and social activist, member of the Sejm of the first, second, and third terms of office in the Second Republic of Poland for the National Populist Union and National Party. He studied law in Kraków and Kiev. He was a member of the Union of Polish Youth "Zet", the National League (from 1915), and the Polish Inter-Party Union Council during WWI. He served as general secretary of the Polish Executive Committee in Ruthenia (1917-1919), as well as general secretary of the Polish Society for the Protection of the Borderlands. He volunteered for the Polish Army (1920). From 1922 to 1935, he was a Member of the Sejm. He was a member of the People's National Union club, an activist of the ZLN and SN, a member of the Executive Department of the Great Poland Camp (from 1926), the SN Executive Board (from 1928), and the secret leadership of the SN, the so-called Nine ( from 1936 ) , and editor of the periodicals: "Polityka Narodowa" and "Warszawski Dziennik Narodowy". During the occupation, he represented the SN in the Council for National Unity. In the years 1944-1949, he served as Minister of the Interior in the émigré governments of Tomasz Arciszewski and Tadeusz Komorowski.
