Biography:

Roman Władysław Odzierzyński (1892-1975), completed his education in Lwów. In 1919, he obtained a doctorate in law from the Faculty of Law at Jan Kazimierz University. He fought in the First World War. In 1918, he joined the Polish Army and took part in the battles to defend Lvov. In 1939, he went to Romania, then to France, finally evacuated to Great Britain. Shortly afterwards he was transferred to Iraq where he commanded a unit of the Polish Army in the East. In 1945 he returned to the UK where he became Minister of Defence for the government in exile. From 1954 to 1955 he was chairman of the National Unity Executive.
