Biography:

Stefan Gałynski (1896-1970), born in Szczakowa, lieutenant-colonel auditor of the Polish Army, émigré activist, minister of the Polish Government in Exile. He served in the Polish Legions, in the 3rd Infantry Regiment, then in the Legions Field Court. He was interned in February 1918, and joined the Polish Army in November 1918. He graduated in law from Jan Kazimierz University in Lwów (1922). In 1928, he was promoted to the rank of major. He worked in the Department of Justice of the Ministry of Military Affairs, served as an adjudicating judge in military district courts (from 5 December 1930) in the Department of Justice of the Ministry of Military Affairs, then as an investigating judge in the Military District Court No. I in Warsaw. In August 1931, he was transferred to the Cabinet of the Minister of Military Affairs. In September 1939, he made his way to Romania, where he was interned. From 1941 to 1945, he was in the Oflag VI E Dorsten and Oflag VI B Dössel prisoner-of-war camps. After the war, he remained in exile and cooperated with the Polish Government in Exile. He was promoted to the rank of colonel auditor. He was a member of the Third Council of the Republic of Poland (from 1963) and its chairman from 1967 to 1968, a minister without portfolio (1968) and a member of the Fourth Council of the Republic of Poland.
