Biography:

Helena Grażyńska, née Gepner, 1° Śliwowska (1895-1972), born in Warsaw, died in London), daughter of Bolesław Gepner and Teresa, née Malinowska, social and independence activist, scouting instructor, scoutmaster of the Republic of Poland. From 1911, she was involved in scouting, organising scout troops, youth meetings, and was a member of Zarzewie. She cooperated with the Headquarters of the Polish Scouts Association (from 1915), the 5th Warsaw Scouts Troop named after Adam Mickiewicz. In 1916, she headed the women's section of the Polish Scouting Association, and in 1918 became a member of the ZHP Supreme Council. She took part in the Polish-Soviet War. In 1927, she was appointed Scoutmaster of the Republic of Poland. She was commander of the Warsaw Women's Flag (1922-1924), vice-president of the ZHP (1926-1928 and 1929-1936), and a member of the Supreme Scout Council (1918-1923 and 1926-1939). In July 1935, commander of the Girl Scouts Rally (1935). In 1939, she left Poland. She maintained contact and cooperated with scouting in exile.
