The quarters of Polish Army soldiers killed in the Polish-Bolshevik war

As a result of battles fought during the Polish-Bolshevik war, many Polish soldiers died in the vicinity of Lviv. In the local cemetery, a war cemetery section was set aside to bury soldiers killed in Busko.

After the Second World War, the cemetery was partially destroyed, with only 29 graves surviving, arranged in 7 rows. The central point of the cemetery plot is a high wooden cross with a tin plaque, on which a pre-war inscription has been preserved, unfortunately no longer fully legible: "To the faithful sons of our Homeland, who died in the last struggles for independence in 1920 / (...) Wdzięność] / By the efforts of the Polish youth gathered in the "Zgoda i Pr[aca]" union in Busko in October 1926. / Honour to the Polish heroes of 1920".

In the middle of the cemetery there is a stone gravestone topped with a military cross, with a tin plaque in honour of the soldier Stanisław Czelakowski. The gravestone inscription reads: "To dearest husband and father / The late / Stanislaw / Czelakowski / volunteer soldier / fallen in defence of the Fatherland / 16 August 1920 / dedicated by mother, wife and children".

The first restoration work after the period of post-war neglect was carried out in 1995. Polish Society for the Care of Military Graves in Lviv. The general renovation of the cemetery was carried out in 2021 by the Freedom and Democracy Foundation as part of a task co-financed by the programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage 'Places of National Remembrance Abroad'; during these works, plaques with the names of soldiers killed in Busk in 1920 were placed in the cemetery.
