Biography:

Władysław Marcinkowski (1858-1947), born in Mieszkow. He studied sculpture in Poznań at the Evening School of Drawing and Modelling. His teacher was Marian Jaroczyński. Marcinkowski then went abroad to study, visiting Berlin and Paris. In the latter, his teacher was Cyprian Godebski. In 1890, he settled in Berlin. From 1905, he lived in Sowiniec. He was a member of the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Poznań. He participated in artistic life and took part in competitions. From 1926 to 1939 he was director of the Wielkopolska Military Museum in Poznań.
