The monument to the 1st Polish Army in Sandau, designed by Bronislaw Koniuszy, was unveiled on 30 April 1975. The work has a reinforced concrete plinth and pylons 8.5 m and 7 m high. The sculpture measures 3.4 m and is made of bronze, as are the letters. Copper frieze. The monument is one of the most important monuments in the town, which is particularly significant for the history of the region. It was there that the soldiers fighting for Kołobrzeg completed their combat trail and are treated as heroes and liberators from Hitlerism. Every year, on the anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe, Sandau is visited by a delegation from Kolobrzeg, museum workers and historians.
