Biography:

Andrzej Piotr Pityński (1947-2020), Polish sculptor. The son of anti-communist partisans, together with his father he took part in assisting the outlawed soldiers. As a result of a provocation by the secret services, they were convicted in a show trial in 1967. After moving to Kraków, he studied at the Teacher's College, then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. In 1974 he moved to the United States, where he initially worked as a manual labourer while studying sculpture at the Arts Students League in New York. Over time, he began to receive artistic commissions. In 1987, he was granted American citizenship. In 2017, he was awarded the Order of the White Eagle. He has mainly realised monuments, his works include: Monument to the Avenger in Doylestown (1988), Katyn Monument in Jersey City (1991), Monument to the Ex-Clawed Soldiers in Jasło (2019).
