Biography:

Marian Bogusz (1920-1980), born in Pleszew. During the Second World War he was in the Mauthausen camp. After the conflict ended, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He chose painting, and his teachers included Jan Cybis and Jan Sokołowski. In 1954, he was a co-founder of Grupa 55, and two years later he was a co-organiser of the Krzywe Koło Gallery. In the 1960s, he began creating paintings that exposed the texture of the work. Together with Jerzy Fedorowicz, they were co-initiators of the plein-air painting in Osieki. Bogusz was also involved in the creation of the 1st Biennale of Spatial Forms in Elbląg. His works can be found in collections throughout Poland. He made, among others, "Object for Good Thought", Friedrich and Alexander University in Erlangen and Nuremberg, 1972. He died in 1980.
