Aldona Mickiewicz (1959-) is a Polish painter. Between 1979 and 1984, she received her education in painting at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where she studied under Stanisław Rodziński and Zbylut Grzywacz. Between 1980 and 1984, she also attended philosophy lectures at the Papal Theological Academy in Krakow. During the 1980s, she became actively involved in the independent culture movement, which resulted in her being awarded the 'Thank you for Freedom' Medal in 2016. Aldona Mickiewicz has presented her works in around 200 solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad, including in Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Japan and Italy. Some of the more important ones include: "What after an artist in times of vanity?" at the Zachęta Gallery (Warsaw, 1990), "Time & Tide" (Tokyo, 1992), "The Bible in contemporary Polish painting" at the National Museum in Gdańsk (1994), "I barbari nel giardino" at the Complesso Monumentale di S. Giovanni in Monte (Bologna, 1998) or "Images of death in 19th and 20th century Polish art" at the National Museum in Kraków (2000). Her works can be found in national and foreign collections, including.
