In 2020, a memorial was erected in the town of Senta, Serbia, dedicated to the Polish airmen killed on the night of 10-11 September 1944 in their mission to help the Warsaw Uprising.
The text on the monument, in Polish, Serbian and Hungarian, reads:
"On September 10, 1944, near the town of Senta, bringing aid to insurgent Warsaw, died the death of an airman
Lieutenant Stanisław Franczak
2nd Lt. Mieczysław Foczpaniak
Sergeant Jerzy Truszkowski
members of the crew of Liberator EW278 GR-U of 1586 Special Purpose Squadron of the Polish Air Force.
Honour Their Memory"
The ceremonial unveiling of the monument took place on 10.09.2021, on the 77th anniversary of the downing of the plane. The author of the design of the monument is the esteemed sculptor, Marek Moderau. The project was carried out under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, in cooperation with the Foundation of Partnership for Central and Eastern Europe, the Senta city authorities and the Polish Embassy in Belgrade.
