Biography:

Tadeusz Stryjeński (1849-1943), born in Carouge near Geneva, son of Alexander Stryjeński and Pauline de Lestocq, architect and building entrepreneur. He studied architecture from 1868 to 1872 at the Zurich polytechnic under Gottfried Semper and in 1877 at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. From 1874 to 1877 he was a government architect in Lima, Peru. In 1879 he opened a design and construction company in Kraków. Member of the Art History Committee of the Academy of Arts and Sciences. Between 1906 and 1910 he was the director of the Technical and Industrial Museum. He was the first architect in Poland to use reinforced concrete structures.
