Monument to Rosa Luxemburg in Dresden

Róża Luksemburg (1871-1919) - Polish social democratic activist, ideologist and journalist. She also lived in Germany for many years (murdered in Berlin), where she was closely associated with the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). From September to November 1898 she was editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Sächsische Arbeiter - Zeitung" in Dresden.

An inscription on her memorial, located near the Elbe (Elba), reads: FREIHEIT IST IMMER FREIHEIT DER ANDERSDENKENDEN (Freedom is always the freedom of dissenters).

Technical data: pedestal in sandstone; relief in bronze (cast); height approx. 230 cm.
