Biography:

Zofia Kulik (b. 1947), Polish sculptor, photographer, perfomer and author of objects and installations. In 1971, she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Between 1970 and 1987, she co-founded the KwieKulik duo with Przemyslaw Kwiek, based mainly on performance art. She creates mainly large-format, black-and-white series of photographic collages, bringing to mind stained-glass windows, mandalas and oriental carpets. She uses architectural motifs and the motif of a posing model. She touches on themes of gender, oppression, power and totalitarianism. She has a collection of materials related to the Polish neo-avant-garde in her home. In 1996, she received the Paszport Polityki award. In 1997 she participated in the Venice Biennale.
