Alessandro Galli da Bibiena was the architect of the Charles-Philippe court in Mannheim, as his father Ferdinando, his uncle Francesco, his brothers Antonio and Giuseppe and his nephew Carlo also worked in Germany, Austria and Italy as architects and stage designers.

He undertook the construction of the castle in Mannheim and the city's Jesuit church . After the death of Prince Charles-Philippe, he planned the construction of Schwetzingen Castle during the reign of Prince Charles-Theodor in 1742 . However, he died before the work was completed. He was often assisted by Franz Wilhelm Rabaliatti.
