Tombstone of the Halfar family

Karviná | Czech Republic

A tomb on a foundation, built on a rectangular plan, covered with three slabs (the central one wider and slightly convex), at the head of which is a stele of trapezoidal form with an inscribed cross on a double pedestal and a base with a vertically incised face. At the sides are low cuboidal pillars serving as bases for lanterns. The arms of the cross end in a segmental arch. At the intersection of the arms there is a space left by a medallion with a relief of Christ's head in a crown of thorns, below it an engraved inscription with gold-filled letters (1). Cd. of inscription on first step of plinth (2) and second step (3). To the left, on a black plaque added in the early 21st century, set on a pedestal of unpolished red granite, a contemporary inscription by Stanislav Tomiczek (d. 2007).
