Biography:

Roman Biliński (1897-1981), born in Lwów, son of Piotr Biliński, painter and sculptor. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, where he obtained his diploma as an artist-sculptor. He also studied at the Kiev Art Institute and probably in Lviv under Professor Zygmunt Rozwadowski. In 1920 he moved to Constantinople, where he joined the Association of Russian Painters in Constantinople. In June 1934, his first personal exhibition was held at the Polish House in Istanbul, where he presented both his sculptures and paintings. After the outbreak of the Second World War, he settled in Sarajevo and moved to Italy in 1945. In 1949 he settled permanently in Bordighera. He exhibited his works both in Italy and abroad in, among others: Naples, Rome, Paris, Geneva or New York. He died of a heart attack on 26 March 1981.
