Walerian Turewicz (1872-1944), born in Gródek near Hrubieszów, son of Ignacy Turewicz and Marianna, née Wójtowicz, artist. Probably at the turn of the 20th century, he moved to Chełmno, where he was active as an artist. In Marysin there is a monument to the Unknown Soldier made by him in 1932. He is credited with making the painting Transfiguration of the Lord, which is located in Borowica. He was also an educator at one of the grammar schools located in the Chełmno area.
