In the Polish-Ukrainian war of 1919. Belz was defended by Polish Army units commanded by Colonel Leon Berbecki. A group of Polish soldiers wounded in the fighting near the town for an unknown reason died during transport to the hospital in Belz. They were buried in the cemetery in Belz. The Polish Society for the Care of the Graves of Heroes planned to implement an investigation into the deaths of all participants in this transport, but no documents have survived to prove the outcome of the investigation.

The graves of these soldiers are located to the right of the entrance to the cemetery, and an earthen mound has been placed on the graves. The first cross on the plot was erected in the 1920s. However, it was destroyed during the German occupation. Shortly after the Second World War, the inhabitants of Belz erected a new cross on the former site. It survived until 1997. In 2005, a new cross was erected, made of metal. The initiators of its setting were the former inhabitants of Belz, Marian Bielanski and R. Huzarski.
