Stanisław Kaliniewicz (1893-1943), Polish surgeon-urologist, director of the hospital in Kolomyia. Widely known and respected in the town, he did not charge the poorest of the poor. Author of scientific treatises on cancer and gastric ulceration. Murdered by Ukrainian nationalists on 24 July 1943 in his summerhouse in Szeszory near Kolomyja.
