Biography:

Roman Stankiewicz (1911-1984), Polish architect. He took part in the battle of Tobruk in 1941 (awarded the Order of Virtuti Militari) and later in the Italian campaign fought at Ancona and Gazala; after demobilisation in England, he graduated in architecture from the Polish School of Architecture at Liverpool University. In 1955, he arrived in Canada. He worked as an architect who designed buildings related to airports, including control towers. He was also the author of the design for the Polish church of St. Jacek Odrowąż in Ottawa. He died in Ottawa and is buried in the local Notre-Dame Cemetery (Ontario).
