Biography:

Władysław Jan Wrażej (1894- 1975), graduate of the Lwów Technical University, professor of metallurgy and metallurgy, university lecturer, scout instructor, who received the Order of Virtuti Militari for heroic defence of Lwów during the Polish-Soviet War. After mobilisation just before 1 September 1939, he took part in protecting the evacuation of Polish gold reserves to Great Britain. In London, he continued his scientific research work. In 1951, he emigrated with his family to Canada. He settled in Ottawa and worked in the department of the Ministry of Mines and Technical Surveys on the innovative use of uranium alloys. He authored many books, scientific publications and engineering patents. He and his family were extremely active in Polish organisations, including a tireless organiser of scouting life in Ontario's Kashubia. He died in Ottawa. He rests in the new cemetery in Wilno, Ontario, in a family grave.
