Adam Chrzanowski (1932-2020), a prominent Polish-Canadian specialist in engineering and mining geodesy. He was seen as an ambassador of Polish science in the world forum. At the AGH University of Science and Technology, he obtained a master's degree in mining geodesy and a doctorate in technical sciences in the discipline of geodesy and cartography. In 1964, he went to Canada for a postdoctoral fellowship, where he worked on developing the then pioneering applications of lasers in precision engineering and mining surveying. He refused to return to communist-enslaved Poland. From 1964 to 1971, he held a position as an associate professor at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) in Fredericton. He was the author and co-author of more than 220 publications, including 18 monographs. He died in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and is buried in the local Catholic cemetery (New Brunswick).
