Legionaries' grave in the Orthodox cemetery

In the Orthodox cemetery, there is a mass grave of legionaries killed during the First World War. According to information provided by local people, 3 Polish officers are buried here. The gravestone consists of a legion cross with the date 1937 and a concrete slab with the inscription on a high two-stepped plinth: "Ś.P. three heroes of the 1st pp.leg. / Fallen for freedom / on 17 September 1915. Honour". In the corners of the slab, four Eagles of the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Poland (pattern from the 1930s) were placed in circular recessed cartouches. Initially the grave was surrounded by a barrier in the form of a bar placed on eight concrete posts. Six of the posts have survived to the present day, the other elements of the fence are missing. In 2005, scouts from the ZHP Zgierz Scouts' Association took care of the grave and carried out the necessary repair and conservation work. In the following years, it was under the permanent care of the scouts. Since 2017, this care has been financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage under the Minister's Programme "Sites of National Remembrance Abroad".
