Project to be implemented 2021-2022
The foundation stone of Mikuliniec's Holy Trinity Church was laid in 1761 and its consecration took place in 1779. The Holy Trinity Church was laid in 1761, and its consecration took place in 1779. The founder of the church was Ludwika of Mniszek Potocka, while the author of the project was an amateur architect and art expert - August Moszyński, privately the husband of Potocka's granddaughter.

Architecturally, the church in Mikulince is reminiscent of Dresden's Hofkirche and, according to some researchers, also of San Giorgio Cathedral in Modice, Sicily.

After the Second World War, the abandoned Holy Trinity Church in Mikulince gradually deteriorated. It periodically housed Soviet army barracks, a grain warehouse, a salt store and a furniture warehouse. Not only the furnishings were destroyed (in order to save them, some of the altar sculptures were taken over by the Lvov Picture Gallery and placed in storage in Olesko), but also the structure of the church itself (for a long time rainwater penetrated through the leaky roofs).

The church was returned to the Roman Catholic community in 1989, followed by renovations in the 1990s.

An expert report in 2019 concluded that the building was at serious risk and, despite repairs carried out in the last decade, was deteriorating further. A high degree of salinity and moisture in the masonry, localised damage in the form of cracks, delamination and cavities, and structural deterioration were noted.

Works carried out in 2021.

In response to the identified poor technical condition of the church, the necessary conservation works were undertaken. In the first instance, these included:
- scraping off damaged plaster in the interior,
- cleaning the ground after the damaged plaster was removed,
- disinfection and impregnation of walls with biocidal preparations,
- creation of sacrificial lime plaster.

In addition, cleaning and temporary repair of gutters and downpipes at the church entrances was carried out.

Contractor: A.R.P. Design Marek Partyka

The work carried out in 2022 was carried out in four areas:

- removal of cement plaster from the walls of the lower church with cleaning and biocidal impregnation;
- removal of cement plaster from external walls together with cleaning and biocidal impregnation;
- excavation of the platform in the south-east corner of the church;
- repairs to guttering, downpipes and ad hoc roofing repairs.

Executor: A.R.P. Design Marek Partyka

Works carried out in 2021-2022 within the framework of the strategic programme of the Polonia Institute "Protection of Polish cultural heritage abroad".
