Reconstruction of the roof domes of the Holy Trinity Church in Zhovkva

Work completed in 2022

In 2022, at the request of the B. Voznytskyi Lviv National Art Gallery, the Polonika Institute financed work on the reconstruction of two roof domes of the wooden Holy Trinity Church in Zhovkva, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Conservation work on the church had been underway for many years, but was interrupted due to the Russian attack on Ukraine for lack of funds. Funded by the Institute, the work consisted of replacing damaged elements of the dome structure and the roof and lantern structures. Roof coverings with impregnated shingles and moulded cornices were replaced. The roofs of the lanterns were clad with copper sheeting. Thanks to the funds obtained, the renovation of the body of the church was completed and it was protected from adverse weather conditions.

The work was carried out by the Ukrainian company Creative Factory.
