Biography:

Ludwik Łepkowski (1829-1905), Polish painter, draughtsman and conservator. In 1851, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. He created mainly documentary drawings and watercolours connected with inventory and conservation works. Among other things, he made redrawings of the paintings from the Swietokrzyska Chapel in Wawel Cathedral (1869) and drawing documentation of the royal tombs at Wawel (1873-1878). One of the illustrators of Patterns of Medieval Art by Aleksander Przezdziecki and Edward Rastawiecki. Brother of Józef Łepkowski, with whom he collaborated on many occasions. Together, in order to take stock of historical monuments, they travelled through Galicia in 1852-1853.
