Information about the object:
A parish, and thus a church, existed in Pomorzany as early as 1483. It was a wooden temple, which was destroyed by fire in 1674 as a result of the Tartar invasions. On the orders of John III Sobieski, the construction of a new wooden church was started, which the king equipped with ornaments from Turkish flags captured at Chocim and a bell cast from cannons - this one has been preserved in the present church to this day.

At the same time, the king ordered the construction of a new brick church. Work began on the foundations, burning lime and supplying stones for the church walls. Construction was halted in 1696 after the death of John III and resumed in 1748 so that the church could be consecrated in 1819.

The church is built on the plan of a Latin cross, the arms of which form a two-nave presbytery and a single-nave presbytery with a triangular apse and a transept, in which two chapels - of St Joseph and of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary - are located. The church is covered by a gabled roof with a bell.

Completed works:
The implementation of the task consisted in the execution of a construction and conservation project for the strengthening of the facade structure together with the conservation of the stone details in the church. As part of the work, an inventory was carried out, a construction project was prepared and a structural assessment of the technical condition of the façade and its details was carried out. A conservator's opinion on the state of preservation of the structural façades with details and sampling of their salinity was also obtained, and a programme of construction and conservation works was developed. The data obtained will allow the actual dimensioning of the façade walls, the details and the preparation of a developer's cost estimate.

Funding: Programme of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage "Protection of Cultural Heritage Abroad".
