Information about the object:
. Franciszka Rzewuska founded the local church in 1769. Since 1746 the church housed a painting of the crucified Christ by an unknown author, considered miraculous. A description of the miracles was published in print in 1886 by the parish priest Fr Joachim Motykiewicz. On 16 September 1945, parish priest Michal Kaspruk left Brzozdowce with his parishioners, taking with him, among other things, the painting of Christ crucified, which is now in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Kamień Pomorski. From 1949, the church was used as a kolkhoz chemical depot. In 1992, the church was returned and on 23 January 1993, Bishop Marcjan Trofimiak consecrated it, and a period of numerous repairs to the dilapidated church began. On 17 September 1995, during the indulgenced feast, a copy of the image of Christ crucified was placed in the church. On 14 September 2005 Cardinal Marian Jaworski erected the sanctuary of the Holy Cross in Brzozdowice. Today, the Roman Catholic parish of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is run by the Salvatorians.

The project included the restoration of the side altar.

The project included:

1. Reviewing the completed work of the technical conservation stage for completeness and effectiveness.

2. Carrying out control surveys (depending on the results of the review of the work carried out in the previous stage) and taking samples for laboratory tests (stratigraphic, identification of pigments and binders).

3. cleaning the surfaces of the paintings from loose soiling and caking resulting from the restoration of the substrate by mechanical methods using erasers of different hardness, wishbone sponges, brushes.

4. Work on the surface of the substrate restorations to obtain a suitable texture similar to the original.

5. filling of small defects and fractures in the paint layer with lime whitewash appropriately coloured with earth pigments.

6. colour blending of defects with stain.

7. making designs of reconstructed fragments (lower parts of the composition).

8. transfer of drawing and execution of reconstruction.

9. Final development of the retouches within the cavities.
