The fortress in Golubac is a medieval fortress located on the south bank of the Danube on 2 June 1428, during a battle against the Turks, the famous Polish knight Zawisza Czarny from Garbów was killed here. A plaque with the knight's image was erected on this spot. The inscription in Polish and Serbian: In Golubec died in 1428 at the hands of the Turks the famous Polish knight, symbol of courage and integrity Zawisza Czarny. Honour to the hero.
