Biography:

Leon Stanisław Piesowocki (1925-2024), born in Poznań, son of Juliusz Piesowocki and Łucja née Kurowska, painter working in exile in Great Britain and France. In 1943 he was called up for service in the Wehrmacht, from where he deserted and joined the Allied forces. After the war he settled in Rome and studied at the Accademia di belle arti di Roma. In 1946 he was evacuated to Great Britain, where he continued his studies in drawing and painting at the Polish Studio of easel painting and applied graphics in Waldingfield near Sudbury and at the Sir John Cass College of Art in London. In later years, he moved to a small village near Montelimar, near Lyon.
