The building of the National Serbian Theatre designed by Viktor Jackiewicz in Novi Sad, Serbia. The edifice was erected in 1981, designed by the Polish architect in collaboration with Arsa Dimitrjević. The theatre has three stages, hosting both theatrical performances and opera. However, the history of the theatre in this locality goes back much earlier. The first edifice was built as early as 1861, which was linked to the rich theatrical culture in Novi Sad, but also to the national revival movement and the struggle for Serbian self-determination. In 1928, the building suffered a fire and the war years prevented reconstruction. After 1945, the institution received a replacement building and in 1981 a new building, just designed by Viktor Jackiewicz.
