Balinski Palace in Jaszuny

The Baliński Palace in Jaszuny, sometimes referred to as the Baliński and Śniadecki Palace, was built in 1824-1828 on the initiative of Jan Śniadecki and designed by the architect Karol Podczaszyński. In the 1820s and 1830s, Jaszuny was an important centre of Polish culture in the Vilnius region. The palace is surrounded by a vast park, where Juliusz Słowacki planted a birch tree in his youth. That is why one of the glades in the park is called "Juliusz Słowacki's glade". Behind the old park is the family cemetery of the estate's owners.
