Plaque commemorating Kazimierz Gzowski in Niagara Falls

Plaque commemorating Kazimierz Gzowski, engineer, builder of bridges and railways in Canada, November insurgent. Gzowski was a co-founder of the famous Niagara Falls Park, and later administrator of the province of Ontario. He was active in exile and involved in the local community. He was one of the founders of the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers. He is regarded as one of the most prominent Poles among the Great Emigration. In 1890 he was awarded the British Order of St Michael and St George by Queen Victoria for his services, receiving a British knighthood. A plaque commemorating him is located near Niagara Falls.
