In the Swiss town of Vevey on Lake Geneva, there is a monument to Henryk Sienkiewicz. The poet, together with Ignacy Jan Paderewski, founded the Swiss General Committee for Aid to War Victims in Poland in Lausanne. Within a month, the Committee was relocated to Vevey, which is why it is mainly associated with this city.
